REIKI

"Reiki is not something that is done to you; it is a connection to the energy that already exists in and around you."
— Diane Stein, author of Essential Reiki.

Reiki, a Japanese healing practice, is a form of energy therapy that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and fosters healing. The term "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: Rei, meaning "universal," and Ki, meaning "life force energy." This universal life force energy is believed to flow through all living beings, and when this energy is balanced, individuals experience greater physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Founded by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century, Reiki is based on the idea that energy imbalances in the body can lead to physical illness, emotional distress, or spiritual disharmony. Practitioners of Reiki act as conduits for this universal energy, using their hands to channel healing energy into the recipient. The process is gentle, non-invasive, and deeply soothing, making it suitable for individuals of all ages and conditions.

During a Reiki session, the recipient lies fully clothed on a treatment table while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the body in specific positions. Each hand position corresponds to energy centers, or chakras, and other key areas of the body. The practitioner allows Reiki energy to flow through them and into the recipient, aiming to remove blockages, balance energy flow, and promote a sense of deep relaxation and peace.
